What you will be Doing:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing firmware for energy applications and have experience in communication protocols (OCPP) for EV charging systems for deployment in North America. The position will be based in Delta’s Eastvale, CA (Los Angeles area) or Plano, TX(Dallas Area) facility, in support of local sales and engineering teams while reporting directly to our Taiwan engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support firmware requirements elicitation for EV charger and energy products.
  2. Design, develop and optimize firmware for EV charger products and energy products.
  3. Develop and support firmware tools used for development and testing.
  4. Develop unit tests and systems level tests to ensure the highest code quality.
  5. Support and facilitate building, testing, debugging and distribution of production-level firmware.

What we require (Skills and Background):

  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience (5-8 years) in developing firmware for EV charging or energy applications.
  3. Proficient in C/C++ programming languages and ARM cross compiler.
  4. Experience with Linux based embedded systems and application development.
  5. Familiarity with network programming like socket/websocket programming.
  6. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  8. Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

  1. Familiarity with industry-standard development and version control tools (e.g., Git, SVN).
  2. Experience with Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is a plus.
  3. Experience with charging protocols such as DIN 70121 and ISO 15118 is a plus.
  4. Experience with drivers for hardware components is a plus.
  5. Experience with electric vehicle charging, power conversion or EMS is a plus.
  6. Experience with Python is a plus.
  7. Experience developing HMI with touch screen is a plus.
  8. Familiarity with Cyber / Cloud web security NIST standards is a plus.
  9. Familiarity with communication interface : CAN, SPI and UART.
  10. Detailed and results oriented with a strong sense of initiative in tackling tasks.
  11. Ability to manage multiple projects and activities at one time.
  12. Strong commitment to teamwork and the success of others.
  13. Highly motivated self-starter with time management skills.
